Green With Envy

Love this green color and love the lamp, but I don't love all the different prints. Still very pretty though (image from Country Living):

My dining room might be this hue soooooooon!

"Projects Lately"

|
Jamie and I are going to see Chelsea Handler at the Fox this weekend.....so I'm in the Chelsea Lately mood! Anyways, here's some projects I've been working on lately...

1. We (a.k.a., Jamie and his dad) are so close to finishing the deck -- at least phase 1 of the new deck. Will explain phase 1 and phase 2 another day...but i have to stain and seal both anyways, since I haven't been able to build the darn thing!

2. I've painted the foyer, upstairs stairway and hallway, kitchen (as much as I can due to 16ish foot sloped wall/ceiling that I can't take on by myself), and I'm working on the sunken den. All spaces adjoin in some freakish way so they are all the same color, Sherwin Williams' Nantucket Dune in eggshell finish. I want to replace the old fixture in our foyer with something like this. My mom's decorator friend told me since the ceiling was lower, a flush mount would make the foyer look larger (as foyers are supposed to, I guess).

3. Still working on our powder room...since Jamie has been working so hard on the deck, I can't expect him to put in the toilet and sink in the powder room. Plus, I'm pushing for a new toilet. The old one has a crack in the, um something (uhhh, dunno), and has been sitting in my garage in a plastic bin since we removed it from the powder room around Nov. or Dec. when we installed the wood floors. Needless to say, it needs to go, especially because it's circa 1980s and my new pedestal sink that;s going in the powder room is circa a few months ago. (Can you tell I'm practicing my convincing convo with my husband??)

4. Still working on my guest bathroom.........omg. Need new lighting -- any thoughts on these?

5. Still working on my master bath. As I've posted before, I want to knock down walls and really remodel my master bath. I want to make it a whole room that's 7' x 9' instead of a separate vanity area open to our room with the world's smallest bathroom (something like 4' x 7'). But my husband has told me if I start anymore projects, he'll kill me. It's ok though -- I plan on making it look decent and then in a year, I'll start knocking down walls (hopefully Jamie doesn't read my blog, haha!

6. Planning on painting our master bedroom soon. I already bought the paint, Indulgent Mocha by Behr.

The project list doesn't stop here though....I also want to lay tile to replace the linoleum in our kitchen (we already have the porcelain tile), put a backsplash in the kitchen, paint the kitchen cabinets, get a new stainless dishwasher and range hood, paint the dining room, and finish decorating the rest of the house. Let's not even mention what we need to do outside!

Our New Boat!

|
My husband sold his old Bronco last weekend, so this weekend, we went to buy him a fishing boat. It's not new but it's new to us! I like to fish but I like getting a tan even more!!! WOOHOO!!!!

Crackle Dresser

|
This dresser, originally green, was baby blue in my husband's nursery as a baby (circa early 1980s), then followed him to college at the University of Alabama when his sweet sister Karey spray painted it black. Now, I gave it a facelift and crackled it using Sherwin Williams illusions Crackle Medium with Behr's Polished Pearl (paint and primer in one, in Satin finish). I also added new Full Carat knobs from Anthropologie - in clear color. Ahhh, it's so much better!!!!!!!!!! Imagine the whole thing before black flat spray paint and really old plain black knobs and then see how it turned out after - I swear I need to take before pics but I get too excited and start my projects. Here's after:

Me encanta Anthropologie knobs and hardware....and bedding and clothing, candles, etc. :)

P.S. - I just noticed all the electric cords to the right and am sorry. This is my husband's side of the room which explains the cords and metal plate that I ask him to put all of his junk in. I'm working on training him to not plug rando things into outlets that are visible....as well putting his tools away, loading the dishwasher as I like, hanging up his clothes, etc. Ya'll understand, no?.....Smiles!

Coral Prints

|
I really like these prints for my living room, but I'm afraid I'm gonna get carried away with my coral decor and overdo it. Thoughts?

Living Room Update

|
Since the living room is the only room I've been able to tackle, here are some updates. The rest of my rooms have 16 foot sloped ceilings, making the painting process difficult and dangerous. And my ugly bathrooms, well....yea, they're still ugly. So in the meantime, I have to make the living room perfect!

I want to put dark brown woven baskets in my coffee table to soften it and tie it in with the other darker wooden pieces in the room. Does this look good? And anyone know a good place to find these because I the ones I bought at Target don't fit. Also, any suggestions for window treatments? I don't like valences - I do like floor to ceiling curtains, but, as you can see, this is a really wide window.
Would it be a crime to rub a darker stain on this picture's frame?? My mother had this watercolor original my grandmother painted framed years ago and the gold is really "blingin" if you know what I mean. I just want to dull it down a bit. And what about this table? I want to hang wall ledges above it (as you see on the floor) but I just don't know.....HELP! (And don't even get me started on my husband's TV stand from college, aka: the black thing on the right.)
I want to paint my dining room (opening to the left below) a bright green. I've been thinking of Behr's Mountain Haze but I feel like I want something more bold and more kelly green/yellow green. See the following pic of the dining room and pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease let me know your opinion. (My mom and her friends, who are valence-loving ladies in love with super-traditional southern decor disagree with green because they say it'll clash with my living room, but just because I have turquoise accessories now doesn't mean I always will, right?!)

Any and all suggestions appreciated!
